WALTER LEE STEWART Walter Lee Stewart, 44, of Pace died Sunday, Sept. 25, 1994, in a Santa Rosa County hospital following a brief illness. Walter was a very studious person who literally went to school three-quarters of his life.

He graduated from F.D. Roosevelt High School Cum Laude. He attended York College where he also graduated Cum Laude. Walter studied at the Sor Bonne in Paris, France, fa-one year, then attended the Graduate Center in New York City, achieving A.B.D. toward his Doctorate degree.

After teaching at Queens College and New York Community College, he went to Mexico to teach at the University of Mexico, Mexico City. He then returned to the U.S. to assist his mother after his father's death. Unable to find employment in Pensacola, he relocated to San Antonio, Texas, where he taught first through 12th grades and then Humanities and Sociology at Palo Alto College. After a debilitating accident and stays at several hospitals, he came back to Pensacola.

LUTHER STEPHENSON The Rev. Luther Stephenson, 88, of Pensacola died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 1994, in a local hospital. Rev. Stephenson was a native of Alabama and resided in Pensacola for many years.

In 1942, he came to Pensacola to pastor East Side Assembly of God and served there for 28 years. After leaving the Pastoral ministry, Rev. Stephenson went into the Ministry of Visitation to the Elderly for seven years at Brownsville Assembly of God Church. He served In this capacity until December 1990, when he was impaired by strokes. He Is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne Cecil Bragg granddaughter, Rebecca Bragg; grandson, Cecil Bragg, Jr.

The NAF hand-delivered a copy of the Army of God manual to the Justice Department on Wednesday, said Susan Dudley, director of special projects for the foundation. Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, in the Eastern Gate Funeral Home Chapel with a military chaplain officiating. Burial will be in Barrancas National Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be members of American Legion Post No. 340. EASTERN GATE MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
