Your flights are booked, your stay is secured, but what are you going to bring with you?? I find that most people have a really hard time not OVER packing for their trips. And that can add up if you are flying on an airline where you have to pay for each bag you bring. If you are headed to the tropics, here is our 5 Day Vacation Packing List for the whole family that will fit in just a carry-on per person!

Since tropical destinations have rather warm weather year-round, it is easy to pack light and save money on baggage. Follow our lists and you won’t bring more than necessary on this family vacation!

If you want to fit everything for her in a carry-on without over-packing, follow our list and make sure to purchase these essentials:

This is going to take some serious self-discipline to narrow it down and only bring what is on the packing list above, but you can do it! Take it from me, I am the type of person that loves to have options and I want to “feel” the outfit I pick for the day, every day. Even if that means I change 3x before leaving the house and my husband gives me crap for it… BUT if you want to fit everything into your carry-on only, you will have to make sure everything you bring, you LOVE and you won’t wish you had more to pick from.

That is why I recommend these products. The blue romper is my ABSOLUTE favorite romper, I have it in blue as well as pink. I wear these as a cute cover-up over my swimsuit down to the beach, and then even out into town afterward. It is super comfortable and flattering. It is a MUST.

5 Day Vacation Packing List: Tropical Destination - (3)I will always suggest bringing a pair of active sandals on vacation. These can double as adventure shoes as well as what you wear down on the beach. They are extremely comfortable, give good support to your feet, and can easily be washed off. Whether you’re going on a hike to a waterfall, exploring tidepools, or just relaxing on a white sand beach, I highly recommend getting these for your trip.

It seems like most of the time, he is able to pack lighter than you, right? That’s why you are going to make him fit the extras for the beach in his bag instead of yours! We love bringing our own face snorkels when we go somewhere tropical so we can go snorkeling whenever and wherever we want to! Plus if we are traveling with a group, we can easily share the snorkels with other people because our mouth hasn’t been all over the breathing tube.

The next thing you will want to make sure he packs are a pair of active sandals like the Tevas above. If he is anything like my husband, he doesn’t love sandals but they are a very necessary part of a tropical vacation. These are great because they are versatile! He can wear them down to the beach, but he can also wear them on a waterfall hike or to go tide pooling.

We own both disposable and reusable swim diapers, and honestly, I prefer disposable ones. They are so much easier to deal with if there’s a mess to clean up in them. I don’t know about you, but I don’t enjoy washing poo out of a reusable diaper. I know it isn’t as environmentally friendly, but when you’re on vacation you don’t have a lot of extra time to do laundry and wait for a clean swim diaper so you can go back down to the pool or beach. The Pampers Splashers are true to size and we always use them.

Another thing I think is valuable to bring with you from home is a shade cabana and waterproof beach blanket. Both of these products are very compact and easy to bring with! You don’t want your little one to get too much sun while you’re on your vacation and this is a great way to prevent it. In addition, get a cute sunhat they can wear like this one below. It is a great deal and seriously so cute!

BabyQuip

If packing all the bulky extras for your baby is overwhelming to you, or you are going a far distance and do not want to lug that much stuff around from home, you can always rent from BabyQuip!

What is BabyQuip? Babyquip is essentially Airbnb or TURO for baby equipment you need on a regular basis as a parent. There are BabyQuip hosts all over who offer different products for a daily fee. Just like when searching for an Airbnb, you search by geographic location and then add the products to your cart you want to use during your vacation. Items range from strollers to cribs, to toys and sound machines! They really have everything you would ever need if you don’t want to bring it all with you.

Book all your baby needs for your next trip HERE!

TURO

If you aren’t familiar with what TURO is, it is a car sharing app you can use in place of traditional rental car companies. Many times hosts offer useful equipment for travel at an added fee. I have seen everything from car seats to coolers and beach chairs. Read my post all about Why You Should Use Turo for Car Rental for more details.
